You’re not stuck

If you read my post a few weeks ago, I spoke about how I was feeling ‘stuck’. I wrote about how I got into my own head and instead of moving forward, I was completely holding myself back.
I wanted to address this again as it appears to be a pattern of mine so I’m sure many of you experience it as well. It’s also something I am actively working on changing so maybe I can help you do the same.
First I want to address the phrase “feeling stuck”. The key word there is ‘feeling’. We are never really stuck. Nothing is cementing us in place or physically holding us back from making a change or moving ahead. It is exactly what it says: a feeling.
You are not stuck at your job. You are not stuck in your relationship. You are not stuck at a weight you don’t feel comfortable at. You are in that place because you are not making an effort to change. Making big moves or doing something potentially life changing can be terrifying BUT it is not impossible. Change is scary.
You know what’s easy? Finding reasons (ahem, excuses 🙄) why you ‘can’t’ or ‘won’t’. I know this because I am basically an expert on allowing my own fears and anxiety to talk me out of something that I might really love or be good at. I have been there MANY TIMES.
Of course there is the possibility that it won’t work out. There is always a chance things won’t go the way you plan. Maybe finances might not be what you expected. But how will you ever know if you don’t keep on pushing forward?
Here’s something you might not want to hear but if no one else is telling you, please allow me: Stop complaining about things you have the ability to change. Stop making excuses. Stop giving yourself reasons to remain someplace you don’t want to be.
Will it be easy? No. Will it take time? Yes. Will it be worth it? Absolutely! Do you know why? Because even if you don’t reach your goal, you will gain so much just from the mere act of trying. It will help you see that there is a way out or a different way around. You will learn how to push passed the self doubt and fear. You will feel accomplished or energized even if it’s for doing something completely different than what you imagined. Getting outside your comfort zone is empowering.
I’m not a monster. I understand that there are circumstances that are out of your control. I know first hand because I’ve spent over thirty years in a freaking wheelchair. That is something I learned I cannot change or control but there are a million other things I can.
When you put your energy into the things you CAN control, change will happen. It may take time. It will take effort, but when you are focused on where you want to be instead of where you’ve already been or where you already are, there will be momentum.
I seem to be making a habit here of using cliches so why not do it again today? This one sounds kind of lame but as usual, also true: “Energy flows where attention goes”.
You are not stuck. You never were. You only believe yourself to be - but guess what? If you can believe you are stuck, you can also believe there is a way out. You have the power and ability to improve your situation. Try to keep an open mind. Make an effort to see yourself where you want to be. Don’t live a life of ‘what ifs’.
Put even the smallest amount of action behind the vision and watch what happens. You are capable. You can do it. And if you need a kick in the ass, you know where to find me. 😜
