I’m sure you know all about exercise, but what about INNERCISE?

I’m sure I’ve worked this into conversations and posts before but just In case you mussed it, let me tell you again - I work out. I spent many years after my accident working with physical therapist and personal trainers. Keeping my body fit is a necessity for my mobility in a multitude of ways. It also makes me feel better about myself and encourages other healthy habits and behaviors.

After the birth of our second son I went through a pretty bad health scare. I spent about two years sick, on a series of different antibiotics, and in and out of the hospital. It was a pretty horrific experience but just like most unexpected experiences in life, it lead me on a new path.

Being married to a chef and having food be a big part of our lives, I delved deeper into that knowledge and used it to my advantage in an effort to try and heal myself. Maybe it was coincidence, but changing my diet improved my health and in a short time, I was back to myself - physically anyway.

In addition to the damage that issue did to my body, it really messed with my mental health. It was then that I began to learn that it’s just as important to heal your mind as it is to heal your body. So we’re all familiar with exercise but what about INNERCISE?

Fine, it’s a made up word, but it makes sense, right? You can eat right and exercise all you want but if you’re stressed, depressed, sleep deprived, or experiencing any negative or unhealthy emotions regularly, are you truly in good health?

Mental health is just as important as physical. Your body is a machine with millions of moving parts inside and out. In order for you to feel good overall, it’s just as important to work on your mindset as it is your muscles.

Being unwell for so long taught me a lot of lessons. I legitimately thought I was going to die because NOTHING was helping. Once I did start to heal, I truly learned the value of being healthy. It took some time but I also understood how important it is to have a healthy mindset and how all of those things work together to make you a genuinely healthy, happy human.

PS - If you have a past weighing you down or some healing to do, I’d love to chat with you about it
