If you haven’t noticed by my sporadically rare posts the last few weeks, I haven’t been feeling too inspired.
No, I’m not depressed or feeling lost. I’m just...meh. Things are going well here, actually kind of fun the last week but the writer’s block is strong so please bear with me.
It did get me thinking: how are you all doing? There seems to be a lot of diverse reactions to how people are handling themselves and the change. None are better or worse than the other, just different.
Some people are being uber productive - organizing, completing projects, home schooling, cooking, etc. Some people have yet to put on pants. I feel like I fall somewhere in the middle depending on the day. Whatever it is, it is. This is new for everyone and a lot to process no matter which side of the spectrum you fall on.
One thing we do all have in common is the ability to choose what happens after After the world begins to open back up. After our jobs start asking us to come back in. After our kids finally leave the house and get back to school.
When have you ever been given the opportunity to really take a step back from your routine and everyday hustle and bustle to contemplate: do I really want to be doing this? Is this how I want my life to be?
This is an excellent time to evaluate where you’ve been and where you’re going. Change the course of things if you are unhappy with the direction you’ve been heading. Even if you’re still working or parenting, the majority of our everyday lives have been shut down or slowed immensely.
We have all been given the gift of putting a lot of our lives on pause. We have been given time to think. We are being forced to reset and start again. If you’ve ever wanted to make a change, maybe now is your chance.
Use this time to change the narrative. Make a plan. Figure out what you want to change - about yourself, your future, whatever it may be. Decide a coarse of action. Find a realistic way to reach your goal.
You have the chance to decide what YOU want. For YOU. You have the opportunity while everything around you has quieted down a bit to think. Whether you do it when you’re two White Claws deep in the same tee shirt as several days before, or fresh out of the shower in pants that actually button doesn’t matter. Just do it.
You don’t have to emerge from your quarantine as a new person. You might love the road you’re on. But don’t doubt that you absolutely can if you want to - so why not?
