In scrolling through my feed the last couple of days I’m noticing a lot of people stressing over last minute gifts and the mountains of gifts to wrap. I think it’s a good time to just say:
RELAX AND TAKE A DEEP BREATH
‘Tis the season of giving but if you’re making yourself crazy or putting yourself into debt doing it, you’re missing the point. Look around at those who surround you and be thankful. They’re not there to collect gifts and money, you’re there to enjoy one another.
When you remember your childhood Christmases your memories aren’t about what you opened, but who was there to share it.
The warm feelings come from the memories of love and quality family time, not from seeing the size of your pile of of gifts under the tree.
The laughs come from remembering that time your kid was having so much fun with the cousins he sees once a year that he puked up all seven fishes of Christmas Eve, not from how fast he unwrapped the toy you ordered on amazon the week before.
Don’t worry if you didn’t buy “enough”. Teach your loved ones the value of quality time. Let them learn to be thankful even if their best friend received so much more. Put your energy into enjoying the rare moments when everyone can be together and in good spirits.
Save the stress for your drunk uncle who loves to bring up politics after too many cocktails.
I think we’ve all seen or read HOW THE GRINCH STOLE CHRISTMAS and there really is no better way to ‘wrap this up’ (see what I did there? 😜) than use a quote from the Grinch himself: #christmas #grinch #gifts #presents #family #qualitytime #blessings #blessed #merry
